Fun Places to Go in The Winter with GrandKids

There are times when we all are at a loss for what to do with the grandkids, especially in the cold winter months.  But there are really a lot of fun activities if you just check around your local area.

Some of the fun things we like to do with grandkids in the winter involve both indoor and outdoor activities.

We usually check the newspaper and local online sites to find what events are happening for that particular week, when we know we will be spending time with our grandchildren.  Local libraries are a good source for indoor fun that usually revolve around books and reading.  But libraries also schedule fun things like puppet shows, craft time and storytime for different age groups.

Even if you live in a warm climate, many local communities have indoor skating rinks for both roller skating and ice skating.  Whether you skate with the kids or just let them skate with a sibling or friend, this is something kids have a lot of fun doing in the winter.  Another of our fun indoor places is Kangaroo Jacs, a kids indoor type playground that seem to be springing up all over the country.

For outdoor fun,  we often times organize a little scavenger hunt, making a list of nature items we know are in our area.  You can do this in a nearby park or even your backyard.  And who says bubbles are only for summertime?  This is a great activity for any time of the year.

Don’t forget about local museums, with changing exhibits, kids theatre productions and school events.  There are tons of things to do with grandkids if you just check around.
